What DeskMoss is

DeskMoss ("the extension," "we," "our") is a Chrome extension that helps office workers take real breaks and close the workday properly. It provides water, eye rest, stretching, and breathing reminders based on how long you've been active. This policy explains what data the extension handles, and what it does not.

Data collection

DeskMoss does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.

The extension contains no analytics, tracking, or telemetry code. It makes no network requests to any external server, at any point, for any reason. We — the developers — have no way to see anything you do inside DeskMoss, because none of it ever reaches us.

Data stored on your device

To function, DeskMoss stores the following information using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API, entirely on your device:

What DeskMoss keeps locally

  • Settings Your reminder preferences, working hours, and configuration choices.
  • Activity & session data Timing information used to calculate your work periods — today's activity, workday end time, idle and active detection.
  • History A record of past reminders and completed activities, used to show streaks and stats.
  • Check-ins & rescues Logs of the reminders you responded to or dismissed, plus any energy or Refresh Me check-ins you completed.
  • Badges Achievements earned within the extension.
  • Notes & thoughts Any text you optionally capture using the extension's quick-capture feature.

This data:

  • Stays on your deviceand is never transmitted anywhere.
  • Is not accessibleto us, or to any third party. Not even in aggregate.
  • Can be cleared any timeby removing the extension or clearing its storage via Chrome.
  • Is not synced across devices— we use local storage, not Chrome sync storage. Your data on your work laptop and your data on your home laptop are separate.

Permissions used

DeskMoss requests the following Chrome permissions, used strictly for the extension's core functionality:

alarms
To schedule periodic reminders — water, eye rest, stretching, breathing.
storage
To save your settings and activity history locally on your device.
notifications
To show desktop reminder notifications.
idle
To detect when you're away from your computer, so reminders reflect your actual working time instead of interrupting a break you've already taken.
offscreen
To support background timing and notification logic that requires an offscreen document.

None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit personal information.

Third-party services

DeskMoss does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics providers, advertising networks, or SDKs. There are no external dependencies that talk to the internet at runtime.

Children's privacy

DeskMoss does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect data at all. The extension is designed for adults working in an office context.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised, and the updated policy will be published at the same URL. Meaningful changes — anything that expands what data is stored or how it's used — will also be announced within the extension so you have a chance to review before they take effect.
